The PX-712A supports 12X DVD+R and 8X DVD-R Writing; 4X DVD+RW and 4X DVD-RW Rewriting; and 16X max DVD-Reading. The DVD/CD burner also boasts high-speed 48X CD-R Writing, 24X CD-RW Rewriting, and 48X max CD-Reading. The drive includes a bundle of premium Microsoft Windows - PlexTools Professional, compatible software from Roxio, including Roxio® Easy CD & DVD Creator™ 6 - DVD Edition, and Roxio PhotoSuite® 5 SE.
The PX-712A extends Plextor’s family of award-winning dual-format DVD drives into the high-speed realm of 12X recording,” said Howard Wing, vice president of sales and
marketing for Plextor. “It offers the enhanced set of recording tools of our PlexWriter
Premium CD-R/RW drive family, including GigaRec, SecuRec, Q-Check, Silent Mode, and VariRec. PlexWriter Premium drive users who require user-controllable recording tools now can easily migrate to dual-format DVD recording with the new PX-712A drive and PlexTools Professional software.”
Just returned from a trip to the Pasokon (PC) shop. I went to just look and wound up buying a new DVD burner. It was the fastest drive they had on the shelf. I haven't burnt any DVDs yet, but I am itching to try it out. It should prove rather useful.
I bought the 12X model, but they only had the 8X media.. where can you get 12X DVD+Rs at? I bought the white faceplate model. They had black and white. I wanted silver to match my case but they didn't have one.
It comes with 1 Red DVD with about 10 applications and utilities. From Nero 6 SE to PowerDVD 5. Installation was a breeze. The loading tray is nearly silent, and silky smooth. I am going to try backing up some data soon and perhaps make a backup copy of my "Last Samurai" DVD. :D
First dip into DVD burning. Knowing my luck something better or faster will come out in the next week.
:D
