I need advice on a KVM. I am looking for the best quality, highest performing and longest lasting 2-4 port KVM. I want something that doesn't require external power, is in a small form factor and looks stylish. I don't want a box that weighs 10 pounds, looks like it was produced in the former USSR, and is painted with pastels... Something sleek and trendy looking. I've looked at a few models from Belkin, AFVN, Compaq, and so on..

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Also I'd like to keep the cost below $80 if possible.

I actual use the Belkin 2 port SOHO series switch.

Actually a nice looking switch IMO

hey stripe you know the model we use at work that just sucks. the small black one. because boogs you dont want that one. looks like a ethernet hub. I had to get a new one using the I/O gear miniview SE 2port. works like a charm.

I use the TRENDnet, TK-250i. I never had a problem of any kind. One plus that might be true with all KVM's is that it has a hot-plug feature, add PC or remove the connected PC for maintenance without powering down the KVM Switch or other PC’s. I bought mine for $14.95.

Cons
No provision to share speakers.
Arrangement of plugs on the switch do not allow a neat connection. It would be better if all connections were on one side of the switch.

Here is one that allows you to share speakers:

Two great models there. I'll be checking those out in detail. I like the separate audio ports on the Belkin model and on the Trendnet model. That I never even considered concerning audio sharing. Glad you mentioned that.

I'll be getting one with the shared audio as well as keyboard, mouse and video. Very convenient indeed.

I bought a "Kyohaya" 4 port KVM switch today. It cost about 11500yen. THey had 3 models to choose from. This was the best deal with the best features. It has 4 ports, KVM + audio for each. It's in a small form factor and has a 1 button switching system. I like it because it lays flat and is stackable.
