View Full Version : bootvis timeout error lynchknot July 27th, 2004, 01:16 AM Hello I'm getting an error running bootvis - says it timeouts. I searched but did not seem to find any info on this. anyone have a fix? :) shadow_warez July 27th, 2004, 01:34 AM i had exact same prob, you have to make sure that task scheduler is set to automatic, it use's that service exclusivly, lynchknot July 27th, 2004, 01:47 AM I made sure (it was set to manual) BootVis requires Task Scheduler and COM+ Event System to use the "optimize system" function. Recommended Startup Type: Automatic Dependencies: Remote Procedure Call (RPC) ***********edit - I just checked task Scheduler and it was set to auto but not started! - huh........ Possible fix RESOLUTION To work around this behavior, stop and start the task scheduler service, wait for 10 to 15 minutes, and then schedule jobs. There is a scavenger tool in task scheduler that runs 10 minutes after the service is started. This tool frees the memory that is still being used by deleted or scheduled jobs. - but then I can't start it in the first place. But I still get this message: http://www.filenote.com/redir/20070.jpg Big Booger July 27th, 2004, 04:51 AM Honestly I have found that bootvis does more harm than good.. :D lynchknot July 27th, 2004, 06:23 AM Well, I have had good luck with it until now. What I like the the order in which my apps open. Conan July 27th, 2004, 09:57 AM Honestly I have found that bootvis does more harm than good.. :D I got good results with Bootvis when Windows was booting slower when I first used my SATA drive as my C: drive. I later on went back to using my Maxtor as the C: drive as it's faster than my Seagate SATA drive.
