*which music player (free) is the best alternative to wmp10, possibly offering the same features, if not more, as the latter?
*i use avast as well as avg, but when i proceed from the welcome screen i get a message from avast stating that some of its features are disabled as it has compatibility issues with avg, is there a remedy to this? if no which of the 2 is better?

Try using Media Player classic:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/guliverkli/
It plays everything just about.

Use Quicktime to play .mov files
Use any burning software and select the .iso file and burn it onto a blank CD

yep, BB right Media Player classic plays about everything. If you want more, VLC player will even play .bin files without having to use a virtual drive (daemon tools, etc)

I like Jet Audi/Video player. It plays virtually everything except MOV files. It is skinnable and does not try to take over your computer when you install it.
