disk checking or disk repair programs

i used to use Norton Disk Doctor but canned Norton's software.

i rediscovered the olde run command- chkdsk __: /f to repair crosslinked files etc.

but then i began to wonder- is there something better than this? and i still wonder.

any ideas?

Chkdsk works fine for me :)

i did not realize one could go to chkdsk by clicking on 'mycomputer' and then to to the the 'local disk' right click and go to properties-- and then tools.
