i know there is a program that converts word doc files to pdf files to (adobe acrobat does that - i think?) but is there a program that does the reverse- converts the pdf files to word doc files?

I am not sure there is a two way conversion program available. I use open office for the task. You can build and save documents as .doc or other common format files and then export them as .pdf files. You can then view or print them on any platform that handles pdf files as long as you have Adobe Reader installed.

i do not need a two way program.. it can be one program changing pdf files and a different program changing doc files.

thanks, but i am not explaining it right. i already have have a pdf already made up. it has images in it. i can duplicate it somewhat but not perfectly into a doc. however, then, that particular doc file then will be a template for other word doc.

I think that you are out of luck. A pdf file is an image file. You can't edit it like you do a wordprocessor file.
