Problem with Service Pack 2

I have Windows XP Professional Edition. Every time I download Service Pack 2 I find mly windows picture and fax viewer disabled. Instead of being able to view my pictures with that program, where I can view them as a slide show, for example, I am directed to the edit program. As soon as I restore my computer to a previous time, windows picture an fax viewer comes back! I would love some help.

Right click on the image and select "Open with" and then you can choose which app to view the image with.
