xp home with sp1.[oem]

no problems until 3 days ago. now = :(

system restarts when switching user
system restarts when accessing video file [avi/etc]
system restarts when playing audio files [mp3]
cannot restore system to previous date
cannot encode avi to dvd format [vob] - NAV file created instead of BUP

device manager shows alert for:-
Basic System Device
ATM Network Controller

cannot reinstall/locate either. :mad:

help/advice more than welcome

When you start your computer does this comes up?

If you try to System Restore does this comes up?

(file):\Systemroot\System32\Config\Security



maybe someone could help both of us,

thanks for response. no, i got no mesage originally, so i turned on the error log and get=

Page Fault In NonPage Area
Stop: 0x00000050

only happens when i switch user

thanks pishhead, but what if you don't have discs? my OS is built in [oem]
'windows cannot find sfc/scannow'
