I agree it looks great, the silver aluminum finish would go well with the Silver XP theme.

December 17th, 2004, 00:52 AM
I might need to give it more grain for a more realistic aluminum finish.

Let's discuss background now. There are several OS VS out there. WB and msstyles. What is your favorite? If there are many we can include them all (choose by userchrome.css) but we need a default. Help me decide please because the texture, color, etc needs to match to allow a one piece look.
For example this WB skin has too much grain for the smoother finish of the browser -

sorry to hear that lynchknot. do you have 2 drives?
I suggest saving your work files on the second partition
i thought about this when using that prog winbackup or something
you know the one that freezes a config of your pc and every reboot it brings the pc back to that config?
I thought that i need it to update my bookmarks and keep files i doiwnloaded so they are all stored on the second drive

Heh, I just thought of that and realized I have the solution right in my face! I've been saving to my desktop! What an idiot! So here's the fix for future problems: (knock the wood)

Theme is available at my site now. Please know that this is still a "work in progress" (beta). There are some missing elements and icons need work. I want to release now as Christmas is near and I have other things to do - so it will be a while before this is complete. Thanks.
Some things to do:
1. improve icons
2. fix bookmark icon css
3. make "broken lock" URL images
4. theme scrollbars
5. match findbar with statusbar
6. make new images for findbar
7. make new images for statusbar
8. fix progressmeter
9. i'm sure there's more...

That was a mock up - here's what i've got now -
this is going to be an all new theme with matching buttons - to match the new text fields. This will take some time as I will have to make every button. hehe, maybe i'll name it "Revolution" this time. I'm not sure about background yet.

Lynchknot this is a great looking skin - as it happens it fits in great with a wonderful piece of work by Tiggz over at WC.
http://www.wincustomize.com/Preview.aspx?Source=http://skins3.wincustomize.com/Tiggz/wb/K-TEKsteelwbpreview.jpg
Seriously - these 2 were just made to go together. The only thing I've got going on that I don't normally, is that my bookmarks toolbar has gone to text instead of icons - but I see that is the case in your previews also. Also I have noticed a slight text misalignment in the Google Toolbar, specifically the search box (if you cannot recreate this - I can provide a screenshot if you want it).
This next link is a quick combo of the 2 on my desktop - The WB screenshot through your browser (I've removed the bookmarks toolbar for this shot).

As it happens just in the last couple of days Wincustomize.com has introduced a new Firefox section - I reckon if you could contact anyone there - this would be an instant hit.
Looking forward to seeing this absolutely finished - it already seems great :)

Hi Lynchknot - love the skin and as you can probably already tell from my previous post I'm looking forward to seeing it completed, although as it already knits in nicely I'm already using it.
Is Wincustomize.com a venue that you would ever consider uploading your Firefox skins to ? I know that some folks have strong feelings for and against WC for differing reasons and I don't know if you fall into either of these camps, nor am I interested in trying to affect your opinion in any way.
Its just that everytime I see your name on the forum, the question pops into my mind - and I just wonder if you had any thoughts on the matter - in principle at least.

Hello. I have my own (ad and donation) supported site. Why would I want to direct traffic away from my site by supplying content at another? (which is also ad supported and, I think, subscription supported)

Cheers for replying lynchknot :)
I have no idea how the dynamics of your site traffic would change although I understand that this could be a concern. Anyway fair enough I have my answer and can stop wondering about it now.
