This pic was emailed to my mom from one of her friends. It does not look real to me as the news never did show a wave this size.
This is Phuket Thailand.

Yeah, the water should be receding much more than rik's or FG's hairline for that size of wave - not sure about zip though.

Fake. I would think a photo like this would have been shown by ALL of the major news agencies by now. There have been a few fake photos floating around the past two or so weeks.

I want to know why the black borders on the film ?
Why is there one big wave peak ? look in the background right past the wave crest, notice how it flattens out ? wouldn't it of been more even across the horizon ?
Look at the high rise the huge wave is headed towards. I don't know how high it is between floors on the high rise, lets say its 10 feet between floors. That wave would be around 150 feet high, anyone see reports of 100+ foot waves ?
Too many colors don't match in the water.

Well, without all that in depth analysis - it's just too damn big.

Hehe........also the part where the waves wash onto the street looks pretty fake to me (but then I duno much abt photography)...
lmao.....Assuming its a reeeaaly rare and incredible bad quality picture - If the person taking the picture was on a building, he/she would surely not wait to take the picture cos a wave that size would move pretty fast even close to the shore.
If the person was on a helicopter, then there wouldve been warnings, and there wouldnt have been so many vehicles on the street.
They couldve atleast dont it in POV-RAY 3d or made a miniature model to make it more convincing.............
HAVE u guys seen the POV-RAY Hall of Fame - http://www.povray.org/community/hof/ some of the pics r really amazing

Fake......there were reports of waves over 45' high but that would only be a tad
above 4 stories in height. this one is a little more than that don't ya think? ;)

Fake, it actually looks only looks like a small 6ft wave from a surf beach and enlarged then put onto a scenic hotel picture... I'm suprised no-one has taken a screen shot from "Day after tomorrow movie" :p

there are videos my coworker was looking at on ebaumsworld.
i also think its fake... the wave was not that high. watch the videos and you'll see. it was almost more like an extremely fast moving flood... not one mega-ginormous wave that everyone seems to visualize when they think of it.

From the first glance, it's definitely a fake.
