Anti-Gay Groups Attack Spongebob Squarepants Video

NEW YORK - Who would ever think a yellow sponge cartoon character could touch off a religious brouhaha over homosexuality? The flap is over a video remake of the song "We Are Family" by Nile Rodgers, using cartoon characters and featuring Spongebob Squarepants. The video is to be aired simultaneously on the Disney Channel, Nickelodeon, and PBS on March 11, and a DVD of the song will be distributed to 61,000 public and private elementary schools.

So what's the problem?

Some conservative Christian groups, including the American Family Association and Focus On The Family, allege the video has a hidden agenda -- one promoting homosexuality.

"When you go to the Web site and you research it a little bit more, there really is an undercurrent of promoting the homosexual lifestyle -- and that's what troubles us," said Stephen Bennet, of the American Family Association.

I think they(the objectors) rnt going to accept that anytime soon, if theyre already biased .......atleast they shouldnt be allowed to abuse their freedom and waste funding.
