Stay away from never heard of PSU brands. Go with Enermax, Antec, Thermaltake, OCZ.

I agree with Conan
I think PS are the most important, I use the same judgement as I would MB, video cards, ram & the likes. stay with proven name brands IMO.

Just take a look at the ampere ratings. That Diablo PSU rated at 550 watts only delivers 20 amps on the +12 volt line. In comparison, my Enermax 430 watt PSU delivers 33 amps.

We don't, we let others do the beta testing :p if it proves out then we throw it in our "proven name brands " list ;)

confusion has arisen in my mind....u talk about the 12v rail being low and at anandtech they recomend the thermaltake power supply and gave it their editors choice award but at tigerdirect i looked at it and heres what i found
ThermalTake
+3.3V-30A
+5V-40A
+12V-18A
-12V-0.8A
-5V-0.3A
+5VSB2A
thermaltake (http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1104460&CatId=1079)
Diablo
+3.3V-28A
+5V450A
+12V-20A
-12V-0.8A
-5V-0.5A
+5VSB -2A
Diablo (http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=541436&CatId=1079)
so what i see here is that the diablo has a better 12v rail...and isnt the 12v rail for pentium users..because if thats the case then it wouldnt really apply to me beacuse im all out AMD and the only other difference is that the 3.3v rail is less by 2A...so if u can answer this please do

"As a general rule of thumb, if a PSU looks too cheap to be true, it is exactly that. This is why you should stick to well known manufacturers. Seek a recommendation from a friend, read them specifications very carefully, read as many reviews as possible, and ask at BE".
If you read this guide (http://www.bleedinedge.com/guides/psu_select/psu_select_01.html) from bleedinedge.com you will see what Conan and FG are talking about.

Nate89 here's a Good PS (http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=17-104-968&depa=0) that has proven its self in the OC circles, has adjustable pots and the price isn't bad.

well, i have that Diablo PSU, and havent had any problems for the past year. plus, it matched my Diablo Tek Case. lol.
however, its on my list of things to upgrade when i get around (read: get money) to do so. i want to get a better mainstream brand like the ones that have been mentioned.

The spec's look pretty good.
I'm sure most of the PS will work just fine in most of the PC's, I just think the power supply should be viewed the same as other hardware. Everyone seems to want the fastest CPU, killer video card and screaming Ram. Yet when it comes to the one thing that powers all this, people want to skimp or see what they can get by with. If everyone used the Power Supply attitude towards everything else we'd all still be running P II's
Thats my opinion. Due to my profession I'm an electrical type of guy and when I buy hardware the PS is on the top of my list.
In reality it all comes down to what type of PC you have and what type of work the PC is used for.
An overclocked game rig has no leeway, you either buy the best proven hardware or spend your time in forums asking for help, even the "best" is no guarantee you won't need help.
A regular game rig has some leeway, maybe ?
A desktop home/office PC prolly can run forever on what it came with.
Everyone decides what they do with their hard earned $$$, as long as you research whats the best for your budget, you'll likely come out a winner :)

hahaha, I think when you get "electrocuted" you die :p
how do u like ur job FG?
I liked it alot till a lead lined wall fell and crushed my neck.
I wasn't the kind of electrician that wired houses & stuff like that. I did things like submarine bases, air force bases, missile command centers, hospitals and industrial jobs.
Most of my life I played pool for a living and only worked when I went broke
Go to school ;) if not then learn a trade :)

The PSU in question does have over voltage and heat protection as well.
