I usually stick an 80mm fan, in the empty bays with double sided tape, blowing in - with a backside fan blowing out. It's good for a couple less degrees as it blows right on my cpu heatsink.

Well, I had a junk power supply so I cut off the backside as it fits perfectly into the bays. Now I have a mount for fan and a switch for it or whatever. I have to put some screws in though to cover the holes.

Interesting. I wonder if anyone else has ever thought of that.

Hey,I like that idea too.The air flow is directly lateral with the cpu.Similar to the hard drive coolers that mount on the front of the case. :D

heh. I cut out the old burnt fan and used as a spacer for the cpu - it does not work. It adds 2 degrees. Without changing that, I mounted the drive bay fan and the temp dropped 6 degrees! (temp 2 is CpU)

What happend to the pic? On the Sony monitor it's bright. On this monitor it's so dark you can't even see the fan mount. I have photoshopped the pic and edited my post. I'm thinking of air filter foam for filtering (3 birds in my office). It may just stick on, depending on air flow drag, just by suction. A full legal size sheet of paper sticks.

Part 2 of my "cheesy cooling mods" ~

Yesterday I was peeing on the porcelain god (beats praying) and I noticed that I have the perfect CPU heatsink right before my eyes! (and other parts). It's an air freshener! I took it apart and noticed that a small fan will fix right inside! All I have to do is spray it with some copper coating (it's plastic) and mount it to my CPU - what luck i've beeen having lately!

WTF?

Let's take a closer look...

Hmmm, I can use this and it won't be too far off from it's original purpose....

Looking good LK, how did you mount the fan internaly inside the cage? How are you going to mount it to your Heatsink?
