View Full Version : Nortons Firewall and IE Firewall

If I have Norton Internet Security up and running how do I make sure that XP isn't running a firewall program as well, as there is one included with IE. I would assume if they were both running at the same time, the system would slow down.

So, how do I turn off, XP's (or IE) own firewall so NIS can do it's thing.

Thanks

Are you running XP SP2?

If you are running SP2 go to Control Panel > Windows Firewall. On the General tab put a check next to "Off" and click OK.

Or if you are using Category View go to Control Panel > Security Center. Under "Manage Security Settings For:" click Windows Firewall and on the General tab put a check next to "Off" and click OK.

NIS disables XP firewall and AV monitoring during installation by default.
