Necessary. This damned machine was possessed. Two days ago this thing went crazy. Suddenly, random programs were loaded on their own. Multiple loads were made of programs. Within fifteen seconds there would be 75 copies of a program running and the number increasing every second. In a short period the computer ran out of memory and rebooted.

Didn't mess with it for long. Picked up my computer whip and gave it a few whaks (didn't help the computer but made me feel better:D), found my HD utility disk, wrote "0's" to drive and did a fresh install.

Has anyone run into this before? If so, were you able to fix it without a fresh install?

In times like these it's always best to call in Father Format for an exorcism :)

I once did a circumcison on a networl cable...

Does that count?

:p

I think problems with multiple copies of programs starting are related to a stuck or faulty keyboard or mouse.

could be a mouse sitting on keyboard hehe :D

I had one of those once and it was indeed a stuck key on the keyboard.

................mine was a poltergeist. You must grab mouse by tail and spin - basically, a centrifugal excorsism.
