Explorer repeatedly crashes. Windows lets me know that explorer has a problem then after I click ok, it closes and starts back up and I receive the error again. This also occurs in safe mode - not allowing me to run system restore. Before I run TrueImage, perhaps someone will recognize this behavior and be able to help. Thanks

*i'm using my mom's computer to post - which also has a strange problem: Firefox won't start - is stuck in taskmanager at 95% cpu without starting - having to use IE to post.

try going into add and remove programs then the windows components and remove IE...then reboot and reinstall it. seems to be a bug in explorer but showing up in IE since they are so tightly intergrated. this fixed an issue with my pc.

Yeah! I first noticed that IE was having problems connecting. Windows update would be a blank page. Then I was getting notices of errors with IE. I wasn't until I rebooted when It really got bad.

I wonder how every computer you use develops strange and unexplainable problems LK. Is there some kind of link we may be missing?

Starting Fx in safe mode worked (Fx safe mode that is). The problem was an extension.

Is there some kind of link we may be missing?

It could be opening strange packages from rough neighborhoods.

*edit- is there a possibility to delete the files manually? it's stuck on deleting files.

Are you using Outlook or Outlook Express? If you are using Outlook then be sure and do the updates for it. I had a problem close to this and updating Outlook seems to have cured it.

Format and reinstall fixes everything.Rik, that may fix everything but you learn absolutely nothing.

How do you update Outlook and OE? I have booth but use OE more often.

You will have to use IE to do the update. After you get up and going use this link.

Microsoft Office Downloads Home Page
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/officeupdate/default.aspx

Click on check for updates.

OE is updated by Windows update if needed.

I ran repair. I was greeted to the two on the right on boot. I then tried to open IE, then I tried to look at event view and enable help

It's fixed, the sissy way: True Image.

He thinks I screw everything that isn't tied down. For info: I don't screw with stuff. It just happens without the screw.
