Hey there,
I recently went on the microsoft website to get the latest updates for my windows XP professional with SP2, but they said that if I want the update, I need to do something called the "genuine windows validation" and for that you need a authentic and fully licensed copy of Windows. But my windows XP is a copy.

Please tell me is there any way of solving this prob.
the only people that i could ask abt this is you guys cuz ur the pc pros,

thx in advance

your license code determins if your copy is legit or not.

if your cd-key was not issued from microsoft you can contact them and they will sell you xp for a discount.

Give Bill Gates your money - he needs it more than you. :)

It's for a good cause - Bill will donate your money on his behalf.

If you were tricked by an OEM who gave you a fake license, you can temporarily get updates until you get your license issue sorted:

Check the last post in that thread. That is a temporary solution. I hope you can get a legitimate license at some point. These OEMs who sell fake licenses aught to be shot.
