Seems windows Vista is trying to get rid or at least for now, make it nearly impossible to run a system restore on the beta that was recently released.

In the My Computer properties, system restore is still listed on a tab... and you can turn monitoriing off or on and adjust the amount of disk space given to system restore, but you cannot run the actual system restore program...

This is rather odd...

But you do see a newer thing in start/all programs/accessories/system tools/

Here you see a BETA tagged WINDOWS BACKUP... image added below.

Big Booger,

You noticed that too... good. I thought I was going mad! Why have the setup options for system restore...but not include the actual program. Have you worked out how to start up system restore? If Microsoft have not included this then they are fools. The whole idea of a beta is to test...so therefore we would be adding and removing and mucking around with heaps of settings and programs...one would most likely some how stuff up the system eventually and require a safemode boot to restore to previous working settings.

Anyone got any suggestions? (and no...I dont want to hear.."dont use Vista"..lol)

I believe someone used Windows 2003 Server System restore files and put them in Vista and it worked... but that seems a bit rough. I don't know why they removed system restore from Vista... it's odd.
