Hi,

a friend of mine's OS (XP home ed) was messed up due to virusses and spyware. I suggested a format and clean install of WinXp.
Because my pc is a lot faster I put their HD in my pc, formatted and installed WinXP and all their software.
When I put the HD back in their system it didn't want to boot. It worked fine on my system.
Is this because of XP security or because my pc is a Intel system and theirs an AMD?

yep can't do that, the HAL and drivers aren't the same.

I've gone between Intel and AMD using XP repair, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. You can also fix it by following this Guide (http://www.ngohq.com/home.php?page=Articles&go=read&arc_id=36)

Either way is time consuming so you're better of starting over fresh with XP in friends PC.
