View Full Version : Which way is better?

Is it better (read as: technically correct) to have my music files tagged and named with every word's first letter in uppercase or to have it tagged and named in likeness with how it is done officialy (by the record label)?

eg: 1) Smoke on the Water -or- Smoke On The Water
2) The Battle of Evermore -or- The Battle Of Evermore

edit: With the above said, which software is the best for changing ID3 tags and renaming music files? I'm looking, in particular, for a software that will automatically add tags to music files once I fill in a few details.

For example, if I enter the song title and the band/artist name, it should synchronise other data, like year of release, album name, album art etc and then automatically edit the information associated with the music file.

I have used Tag&Rename for sometime now, but it lacks the 'synchronise with databse' feature that I'm looking for.

I always use lower case except for the first letter and names.
1) The Beatles - Yellow submarine.mp3
2) The Beatles - Hey Jude.mp3

Tag&Rename it's too complicate for me, so I use MP3Tag (http://www.mp3tag.de/en/).

Thanks for your comments guys. I came across this great tool called MusicBrainz (http://musicbrainz.org) and have just finished tagging and renaming, correctly, 600-odd songs in my digital music collection.

I highly recommend it to everyone with an obsession for filename correctness such as mine :D

PS: While I was searching for music related apps I came across Akram Audio Converter. A very handy tool, converts to and from a decent list of music filetypes. On the downside though, you can only use it 15 times for free...
