Notice when you boot longhorn click start and click run and then type: msconfig

You get an error. Well here's how to fix that:

http://www.techadvice.com/win2000/m/msconfig_w2k.htm

Go to that site. Download the MSCONFIG utility for windows 2000. Follow the instructions by placing the msconfig utility in

X:/windows/system32

where X is your longhorn hard disk letter... C, D, E....etc...

Once it is there, you can then click start/run and type msconfig

It works. I've tested this myself.

 Has MS decided to remove MSCONFIG from Windows?! Or is it just a bug?

It wasn't there. I tried msconfig in the run menu and I got an error. Then I searched for it in the usual locations... not there.

I don't know why they removed it... it is useful.

I agree it is useful; may be they changed its name.

That's an idea but surely they would have included that in the release notes???

You can use the msconfig.exe from XP.

C:\WINDOWS\PCHEALTH\HELPCTR\Binaries copy the msconfig.exe to \WINDOWS\system32 in your Vista installation.

Then run it the normal way: Start > Run. Type msconfig.
