Can someone explain this?

This guy was sentanced to 424 years for being a freak with kids, but gets out after 5? What is the point of giving them 424 years in the first place then?? I don't understand how people 'get out early'. I could see a few years, but more than half the sentance seems kinda crazy. This is just absurd.

Justice is that way.. Imagine how the victims feel... and the arresting officers.. Kind of makes a mockery of the penal system.
