Well,I'm laid up for a while with what the ER doc says is a torn calf muscle.Man,the pain was unbearable. We were having a birthday labor day family party and I decided that I would race my 23 yr.old daughter, like when she was a little girl.On your mark get set and wham!I thought some one threw a baseball at the back of my calf.It popped and I went down in 2 or 3 steps. Now I got the cast, the crutches and a trip to an Arthoscopic surgeon on tuesday. The codeine makes me a little nauseas but I feel no pain.I had to laugh as my daughter said"Dad I think your racing days are over".And no I wasn't drinking when I decided to footrace.:o :D

Reminds me of the time I tore my Hamstring doing sprints with a friend.:( I never went to the doctor though, I healed it and rehabbed it myself.

I wonder if a bit of pre-race stretching would have fixed this Zipp? I hope you get better soon. I think your "Flo-Jo" days are over.

Good luck on the recovery, but it might have been a good thing if you had been drinking (i am saying this without previous knowledge of your history with alcohol), it might have taken away some of the sting.

I hope for a fast recovery zipp, i've also torn a muscle in my body before thanks to inappropiate footware.
I couldn't walk properly for a week, and limped for 3 months, it took 6 months before the muscle was fully healed and i could run again.
Bottom line - Injuries suck!

Since I ran indoor, outdoor, and cross coutry track in high school and finnished 25th in the state meet you would think I would have remembered, but doooooh,a brain is a terrible thing to waste.I'll look on the brighter side in that I don't have to work for several weeks. And thanks to all for your kind thoughts and humor, the most important pick me up of the day.:D
