View Full Version : Image burning
lankan_man September 21st, 2005, 19:21 PM Well i wasnt really sure were to post this because it may be a problem with my burner, anyways...
I had a image file right and I wanted to burn it onto a CD, so when I tried doing that, it just screwed up, BTW I was using Alcohol 120%, anyways, they said that there were a error during the burnning. And the part that drives me crazy is the fact that it burns till 60% then stops, and afterwars the CD isnt reusable, damn that pisses me off,
So if any of you can halp me it would be great, + Ace Mega Codec pack was one of my doubts because when I installed it a lot of problems happend, so anyways, help me.
Thx in adv. ;)
Reverend September 21st, 2005, 19:30 PM Does the burn process stop at the same point each time?
lankan_man September 21st, 2005, 19:33 PM i'm not sure, well I guess so, I'd like to add that I cant even burn normal files by doing drag and drop into the CD folder, when I do this is what that appears:
http://img26.imageshack.us/img26/2250/picture2zs.th.gif (http://img26.imageshack.us/my.php?image=picture2zs.gif)
and it keeps saying tha for each files.
Reverend September 21st, 2005, 19:37 PM Your screenshot shows D: as a normal CD Drive and not a CD-RW Drive.
lankan_man September 21st, 2005, 19:39 PM actualy never mind that, lol, that was because the cd was screwed as u can see it says free space 0bytes Total Space 0bytes, but its wierd cuz the cd is empty, thats pretty wierd, anyways can u help me for the image file thing?
FastGame September 21st, 2005, 20:22 PM Don't you worry none Lil' Booger, you're in good hands with Reverend ;)
Maybe you could post the burn log from Alcohol, you know, so we have something to read untill the Boss gets back :D
lankan_man September 21st, 2005, 20:41 PM Of course I'm in good hands with u guys :), this is the first forum i have ever registered + I have never posted so much posts in any other forums ;)

lankan_man September 21st, 2005, 21:31 PM nope, it didnt work it stopped at 56%, and I just lost another CD :(
FastGame September 21st, 2005, 21:45 PM Are you using cheap CD's that your writer may not like ?
Go to device manager, click on IDE ATA/ATAPI controller, tell me what it says for "Parallel ATA controllers"
lankan_man September 21st, 2005, 22:22 PM Yeah I guess my CDs r cheap, lol
And I dont see any "Parallel ATA controllers".
here is what i get: http://img58.imageshack.us/img58/2325/untitled6hk.th.jpg (http://img58.imageshack.us/img58/2325/untitled6hk.jpg)
FastGame September 21st, 2005, 22:36 PM And I dont see any "Parallel ATA controllers".
Thats good :)
Try burning the ISO with Nero or something else, guess you won't get the best ISO burning software I told you 5 times to get.....
How about some good CD's ?
lankan_man September 21st, 2005, 23:07 PM What burning software did u tell me to get 5 times???

If you have Nero it should be fine ;)
Conan September 21st, 2005, 23:41 PM Experiment first with CD Rewritables, that's what I sometimes do with image files and slipstreaming projects. When I'm sure that they'll work that's when I burn them to a CD-R.
bhxtyrant September 22nd, 2005, 00:12 AM It sounds like you may be expieriencing a case of bad CD-R's.I've had the same problem a few weeks back.I was using TDK 24X 80 Min 700MB CD-R's and they worked fine for a long time suddenly my burner wouldn't burn them anymore it would stop at around 50% then report an error.
I switched to using FujiFilm and Sony brand CD-R's and haven't had a problem since. If you havent already try a new cae of CD-R/RW's.
lankan_man September 22nd, 2005, 00:43 AM awwwwww....but i hate spending alot of money, i'm a cheap bastard, lol, Though i do like buying useful stuff such as pc parts (vide card, fans...) and I did pay my pc for around 1000$ AND I FREAKING KNOW I GOT RIPPED OFF BY FUTURE SHOP :@
Anyways, I suppose i could spend a little more to buy better CDs
BTW, The CD i got is this : http://www.tapeandmedia.com/images/imn17262.jpg its a imation CD-R 1x-52x
bhxtyrant September 22nd, 2005, 01:17 AM Lol well look at it this way you will be spending alot more moey on cheap CD's becauseof the problems burning so why not just spend the little extra instead of wasting money on future coasters.
lankan_man September 22nd, 2005, 01:37 AM lol, ur rite guy, but which CD do u guys advise me?
keep it cheap, but good :D
bhxtyrant September 22nd, 2005, 02:04 AM I'd have to say Sony,Fujifilm, maxwell, and Memorex are the brands i prefer for CD-R's.I've heard Verbatim is decent as well.A pack of 100 Memorex 700MB 52X CD-R's will cost you about $19 US just about any of these brands will cost between $15-25 US.I would suggest you ask a freind that may have a CD-burner and some CD-R's if you could get one from him to test it out just to be certain it's the CD-R's that are the problem.

Thx for the info pal,
oh and BTW, I was able to burn the image file using burnatonce thx again bhxtyrant for that software, and FG, Reverend, Petard, Conan, Zipp for your great help :D
FastGame September 22nd, 2005, 02:15 AM Myself I use any brand that says it's "Made in Japan" or Verbatim DataLifePlus.
I always get Fujifilm Made in Japan (Taiyo Yuden manufactured) on sale at Best Buy, they cost less than the cheap CD's.
I do the same for DVD's, "Made in Japan" or Verbatim :)
lankan_man September 22nd, 2005, 02:17 AM then i'll buy them too

rik September 23rd, 2005, 13:09 PM I prefer Imation and Verbatim brand CDs. Memorex and Maxell have both been problematic recently with drive compatibility

How about a second opinion? :p

GimieGimieGimie September 24th, 2005, 10:55 AM The success of the media unfortunately, depends completely on the make of burner you have, but on general, if you get a decent brand name at a decent price, they tend to have the most compatibility with the burners.
I perfer Verbatim for both my DVD and CD-R discs, especially the DVD discs, burning at a sweet 16x, they play in everything :p
