View Full Version : Cheap PCI video card choice...

I'm of a mind to get a PCI (not AGP or PCI-E) video upgrade to my old P3. I don't want to spend over £50. The two cards I see often are the nVidia 5200 and ATI Radeon 9250. Both can be got with 128Mb and I know are quite good for features.
I also heard the 5200 is REALLy slow - like the same as a Geforce2. I don't need anything super-fast but there isn't much in the PCI range newer than the Geforce2, so are these in fact comparable cards in speed, shader versions etc? Is there another chipset I should be considering too? And where is the cheapest place to get them - I'm looking at new ones on eBay for about £45 inc p&p right now. Note I'm UK, any good websites are gratefully accepted.

Many thanks.

That's a US site so not much use for us in the UK :(

Is there a site to let me compare the features / benchmarks of two cards side by side? There must be but where is it?!

Cool. What's the difference between nVidia 5500 and 5200 - it seems I'm going to go this way unless I look at the ATI 9250.
