Here's a question I've had for a while. I'm not really thinking about doing it but thought it would be a good thread. Maybe even helpful to some.
If a machine has a kick-ass video card handling much of the load, couldn't the CPU be pretty basic with a good clock speed?

Here is a good article from guru3d that discusses this issue. Their testing concluded that it is better to go with a faster cpu than vith a state-of-the-art video card matched with your slower cpu. They work as a team. LINK (http://www.guru3d.com/article/article/136/)

I have a Nvidia 5900 series that would probably suffer if I hooked it up with too much budget hardware. It'll probably scream along with an upgrade that I've been posting about.
One more reason not to go out and buy the latest greatest GPU until it goies down to 200 bucks.
