Not sure whether this should be in XP or Hardware section.

It has happenned twice so far. When I connected my phone and now when I connected a card reader. It reboots immediately as if I hit the reset button. I'm sure it's not Konfabulator 'cause it happenned once before installing it. But I suspect the MS patches of last week 'cause everything seems tad screwed up since I applied them. Any idea?

Does it all work correctly if you connect the USB devices, then turn the system on?

Yes, after reboot, it works fine.

It also reboots when I remove the USB device whether I use "safe removal" or just unplug it.

After the reboot, Windows says it recovered from a serious error.

If it is creating a "dump file", try downloading the MS Debugging Tool from http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/devtools/debugging/installx86.mspx and use it to analyze that error log. Might let you know what is happening.

Regardless it is a good tool to have around.
