I have a Panasonic VHS/DVD recorder/player that on the back there is a "jack" for what the manual says "external decoder". But, the company says there is none available at "this time". Is that what you are refering to?

This on eats everything http://asono.com/?language=EN.

You can burn avis, mp3s or whatever on CD or DVD and it'll handle it. A friend of mine has one, and is very happy with it. Good image quality, sound quality is okay.
