View Full Version : The Techzonez Wikipedia
Big Booger October 29th, 2005, 15:24 PM :view: View: The Techzonez Wikipedia Page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Techzonez)
I created a wiki for techzonez. I am still working on it and hope to continually add new information as I can. Hopefully this will provide some background into techzonez as well as give anyone searching a chance to find out about this site.

Reverend October 29th, 2005, 18:45 PM Good work Mr Booger.
rik October 30th, 2005, 01:17 AM Indeed. Very nice.
beelzebub October 30th, 2005, 01:05 AM i like how in the picture of the front page, the "Huge Naked Stars List" Thread is like number 7 on the most active threads list.
very nice by the way.
rohitk89 October 30th, 2005, 08:17 AM Excellent!
Big Booger November 5th, 2005, 01:08 AM SAVE THE TZ WIKI!!!!
They are going to delete it unless we vote to save it!!!!!
How to save it:
GO here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Techzonez
Click the [EDIT] tab, then copy the syntax
* '''Keep''' (your message)
WE need at least 20 people to do this. If not it will be deleted. Do you want that? Make sure to CREATE A WIKI ACCOUNT FIRST!!!
http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Userlogin&returnto=Main_Page
And post something before you vote!!! please hurry. I put forth a lot of effort creating that wiki just to let that mofo bring it down... It will be sad to lose it!!!!!
beelzebub November 5th, 2005, 01:43 AM i voted, every one else vote!
Big Booger November 5th, 2005, 01:47 AM i voted, every one else vote!
Beelzebub you rock!! :D Nice vote! Keep them coming... let's keep the TZ wiki going!
lankan_man November 5th, 2005, 01:58 AM Done! Wonder whose that mofo who would do such a thing?
Dehcbad25 November 5th, 2005, 02:02 AM ok, how do you post? and more importantly, how do you vote?
:p
Also, be careful since there is a section in Sockpuppets (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Guide_to_deletion) that refers to forum members as an example
Big Booger November 5th, 2005, 02:09 AM Before you vote, MAKE SURE TO MAKE SOME EDITS WITHIN WIKI.. EDIT any wikipage. If you don't your vote won't be truly considered. This is vital!
Big Booger November 5th, 2005, 02:15 AM ok, how do you post? and more importantly, how do you vote?
:p

Don't use your forum name!!! that will help. Secondly, space out your voting a bit. YOu can wait a bit. To vote, first create a wiki account.
Then edit some posts or something. Then, go to the page I listed:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Techzonez#.5B.5BTechzonez.5D.5D
Once you go there, after you've created your account and you have edited some pages, then edit the link above. You will see the edit button, copy the syntax for posting that I posted above.
I gotta run, I have to go to lunch with some friends. Be back in a while.
rohitk89 November 5th, 2005, 05:30 AM If they think we are only advertising, why not offer to remove all links directed to TZ and only show links to articles etc. where TZ has been mentioned?
edit:I've voted too.
Big Booger November 5th, 2005, 05:54 AM Keep it rockin! Make sure to contribute to wikipedia Before you vote. The reason being is they are marking your account with contributions... to show how well you've connected with wiki. They don't want sock puppet voting. Meaning if you just sign up to vote, then you're a sock puppet voter.
rohitk89 November 5th, 2005, 08:37 AM I've made (minor) edits on pages before this, but it doesn't show
edit: # Your opinion will be given the most weight if you are logged in with an account that already existed when the nomination was made. Unregistered and new users are welcome to contribute to the discussion, but their recommendations may be discounted, especially if they seem to be made in bad faith (for example, if they misrepresent their reasons).
Definition of sock puppet:
# Please make your recommendation only once. If there is evidence that someone is using sock puppets (multiple accounts belonging to the same person) to make multiple recommendations, such additional recommendations will be discounted.
Nothing about first time edits on this page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Deletion_reform).
Big Booger November 5th, 2005, 09:35 AM Thanks for that info Rohit. I am fairly new to wiki. I hope we can defeat these radicals and keep techzonez alive on wiki!
egghead November 5th, 2005, 11:03 AM They don't want sock puppet voting. Meaning if you just sign up to vote, then you're a sock puppet voter.
It would be useless to try to vote as mine will not count. I am very proud of reading the comments that have been posted in favor of techzonez and I am shocked that they wish to delete our entry. Please feel free to sign up and post your comments at the tz deletion thread at wiki as the benefit it can have is to convince any wiki surfing non members to visit techzonez. It appears that one guy can control who get's deleted based off of their opinion and can bias the voting by influencing wiki members in favor of there views. I have seen neowin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neowin), digg (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digg), and slashdot (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slashdot) entries yet we appear to have been chosen for deletion by redvers by the way the article was originally written off the cuff by Mr. Big Booger.
That's bad logic. I offered you advice on trying to stop the article from looking like advertising. That hardly makes me an "interested party", now, does it? ➨ ❝ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Redvers)REDVERS (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Redvers)❞ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/Redvers) 11:00, 5 November 2005 (UTC) it is good that wikipedia has content controls and I think they should remove all entries for internet site's as it obviously has no merrit and sites should only be considered removed if more than one person complains. We have been rejected by redvers.
Reverend November 5th, 2005, 11:37 AM So how does our wiki differ from the likes of Neowins or Slashdots. Theirs are fairly similar to ours yet he doesn't want to delete theirs.
How can i contact him directly,i want to ask him what criteria he is basing his deletion decision on.
Another option is to bite the bullet and let him delete it and we'll copy all the content over onto a TZ Blog instead.(at least a blog can't get deleted) ;)
Big Booger November 5th, 2005, 11:43 AM Let's rally the troops and attack this turd! I hate him... it's official now.
Reverend November 5th, 2005, 12:36 PM I've added a diplomatic comment to the wiki discussion, hopefully before it gets into too much of a flame:
i am the owner of Techzonez and rather than this discussion turning into the tit for tat argument that it has developed into, can redvers or anyone else who wants our wiki removed please explain what content you consider should be edited or deleted. If it doesn't conform to wiki guidelines please be more specific about the recommendations you require. That is all i ask.Thanks.
One other thing,i've looked at some other tech sites wikis,(neowin and slashdot as examples),and to be honest their content appears to be a similar theme to ours,so why does theirs meet the requirements but our does not? BTW that comment is not aimed directly at those sites above,(i consider us to have a good relationship with both of them),my gripe is with those who wish to see us deleted. Like i say i'm not here to flame,i just want clarification on what content is acceptable and what content is not. Thanks.

FastGame November 5th, 2005, 12:43 PM My vote was deleted and I used my real name.
egghead November 5th, 2005, 12:51 PM everyone can delete posts so it may have been user error...
did you post it again?
FastGame November 5th, 2005, 13:02 PM I've added a diplomatic comment to the wiki discussion, hopefully before it gets into too much of a flame:
Yes and the Godless-God himself REDVERS has responded. Seems like a one man show, I say Wikipedia would be best served if they delete REDVERS ;)
egghead November 5th, 2005, 13:10 PM "A sock puppet is an additional username used by a Wikipedian who edits under more than one name. The Wikipedian who uses a sock puppet may be called a sock puppeteer." All the voters against the deletion of this article are genuine members of the Wikipedia community, albeit first time users/first time editors.
I agree
it appears that they are calling us all sock puppets in an intent to place everyone here in a cheater list of some sort.
Good point FastGame. thanks
rohitk89 November 5th, 2005, 13:27 PM My vote was deleted and I used my real name. Not possible FG, unless its vandalism of some sort. Log in and try again won't you? At the end of your vote append this: ~~~~
edit:Good point FastGameYou mean Rohit? :D
Dehcbad25 November 5th, 2005, 17:41 PM I really can't find what to edit on the page, that wuld make them think it is advertising. The only lead that I have is about the reference to the technology used, and where the forums have been hosted. Maybe cleaning this will invalid their point of advertising, but I run out of ideas after that.
Big Booger November 5th, 2005, 23:56 PM It is obvious the guy wants attention. He is wacked in the head.
Big Booger November 8th, 2005, 13:47 PM They deleted it:
The following discussion is an archived debate of the proposed deletion of the article below. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page (such as the article's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this page.
The result of the debate was delete. Grue 14:41, 8 November 2005 (UTC)
Oh well.
rohitk89 November 8th, 2005, 14:17 PM We tried our best... RIP
GimieGimieGimie November 8th, 2005, 15:49 PM Tough break, i think we was a good enough source to be left on there, neowin and other website type forums also had a battle to not be deleted if you check their links.
Unfortunately, we are a tried and tested format that apparently isn't needed in great numbers over at wiki.
efc November 8th, 2005, 19:16 PM Remember that TZ has been highlighted on The Screen Savers, Tech TV. We were linked to in an issue of the Langa List. TZ was recently referenced as the source of a news item at SlashDot.org. This issue with Wikipedia doesn't reduce my opinion of TZ. It has changed my opinion of Wikipedia.
Who needs it!
Dehcbad25 November 9th, 2005, 10:31 AM I agre with efc. U know, from some point I kind of agre with their socket policy, but for another I don't.
You don't want sockets in order to keep it the most objetive posible, and that the decition is made by wiki contributors. But I don't think that any of the people that voted delete did really take a look at the site. They already had made their mind about the site before visiting, and just look for support points to their view, which is very subjetive. Heck, they just keep repeating the same reason, whithout trying to even give an example.
For the other hand, I had used wiki several times, and as probably most users have, I went get information which I did not know before, so I am in no position to make editions or comment. It is not like I will start posting like (Great artcle) or stuff like that, because it would not be a encyclopedia, but a forum. If it is true that we are biased, or it is dificult or the TZ members to be objetive, I believe we tried our best, and had no objetion to edit as necesary. I still truly believe that the article in wiki was a good idea, and my kudos to BB for taking the time required to write it up.
Now, changing the mood to my usual self, lets vote to delete redvers page :p
PS: What does grue mean??
efc November 9th, 2005, 12:34 PM Now, changing the mood to my usual self, lets vote to delete redvers page :p
Naw, lets not give Wikipedia any more coverage here at TZ. Let's just ignore them.
cash_site November 15th, 2005, 02:37 AM Good points... well done everyone for stepping up to the plate and having a bash to save some face...
Its a damn shame wiki is seemingly controlled by 1 person... sounds like Micro$oft... LOL ;)
Sorry BB... you put a lot of effort into the wiki... dont let it get you down... !
GimieGimieGimie November 15th, 2005, 10:20 AM Now, changing the mood to my usual self, lets vote to delete redvers page :p
PS: What does grue mean??
lol, infact, lets vote to delete EVERY page in wiki, i wonder if the power hungry users (and lets face it, there wasn't any self rightous people there only power mongers) would disagree that wiki it's self was "advertising" :p
Being serious though, i had never heard of wiki until this incident, is it just an american thing?
I certainly would never have used a resource like wiki to find tech websites myself, the site was just too huge to find such random information, so i doubt we lost out much, you'd have more luck using google.
hotmale December 29th, 2005, 02:32 AM I know this is an old topic, but I was wondering whether the Wikipedia scandal (http://news.google.com/url?sa=t&ct=us/8-0&fp=43b3235b2ecddf09&ei=olizQ8yMLsPyaKGyyJAJ&url=http%3A//www.techspot.com/news/19801-wikipedia-hit-with-spoof-articles.html&cid=0) was a curse for messing with TZ :)

I surely hope so... I hope that Redver bumsnatch licker dies a slow and painful death... I hate that sh!tbag.
Big Booger February 19th, 2006, 07:18 AM http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Techzonez
LOL
rohitk89 February 19th, 2006, 10:30 AM http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Techzonez
LOL"One more solo?" :D
Big Booger February 19th, 2006, 10:34 AM I am trying to wait it out.. and then I will heavily edit it. Hopefully if it can stay on the wiki for a long enough period it will lose the Redver curse.. :D
rohitk89 February 19th, 2006, 11:32 AM If you make it a part of the 'Internet' stub and keep it concise it shouldn't be a problem.
Dehcbad25 February 20th, 2006, 16:37 PM What about, if we make a test page here in TZ, and all the members put their input, and then when ready we post it in wiki?
