Fan Noise

I have a noise problem with my computer when I am encoding/ transcoding using software such as Nerovision Express, DVD Lab Pro, WinAVI, it is normally quiet but I get a loud whining noise coming from a fan inside when the CPU has to do a bit of work, I did wonder if more memory would help, any advice would be most welcome.

When you do the type of work you describe its CPU intense, that heats the CPU and the auto fan control kicks in.

More memory will help the type of work you do, it won't have any effect on your CPU temps.

Be happy you have quite periods, my PC sounds like a jet all the time :D
