It has been reported that Circuit City has been using deceptive mail-in rebate practices. More (http://gcburgess.googlepages.com/circuitcitydeceptiverebatepractices)

I spent several hours in a CC store once with a Chinese professor from my university as he haggled the general manager for a lower price... I never saw such a stunt pulled in my life, but the professor walked out with a Toshiba laptop for several hundred dollars less than the price listed, a couple of free upgrades and a discount coupon for 10 percent off his next purchase. I was amazed.

Nice to hear that they are not honoring a rebate when the person followed the rules when he submitted the form.

The major problem with Circuit City’s position is that the copy of the "order confirmation" form that I included in my rebate submission specifically states "This copy can be used as verification of a purchase for rebates, or as a receipt for your transaction."

I think that is very clear.

They just did the same thing to me...the Bast**ds...I bought a 19" flat panel monitor....did what they said....got a letter in the mail saying my rebate was denied because of an invalid post mark....:wtf: ....I sent customer service an email asking "What exactly an invalid post mark means, when it is in fact correct"..
That is the last time I buy anything from them!!!!!!! they Su*k big time.

Rebates in general are a pain in the a**. It takes too long to get the rebate and as described above, it is easy for someone to be cheated.

One company, Tiger Direct, has a Rebate Guarantee on all advertised rebates on their site. This came about when Soyo didn't honor rebates on several products. That was nearly two years ago. TD made the wise business decision to honor the rebates themselves. That is when they started the Rebate Guarantee program.

I was one of the people that was shafted by Soyo. I will not buy another Soyo product as a result. After TD covered the rebate, I became a loyal customer.

The rules are simple. This is all you have to do to qualify:

To qualify for the TigerDirect.com Rebate Guarantee you must comply with the following:
Complete the attached rebate form and follow all the instructions that apply.
Submit the rebate via Postal Service: Certified Mail Return Receipt Requested by the required postmark date to the address on the rebate form.
Please make copies of all materials submitted:
Rebate Form
UPC, Barcode or Serial Number
Invoice or Receipt
Postal Tracking Information

I refuse to go into that store. Totally ignorant people there, heck I can get more truth out of a used car salesman.

USED stuff sold as new. I was given a gift, a software program, when I tried to register it, I was told that the serial number was already registered to someone else. When I told the man at the company where I was trying to register the program that I got it from Circuit City, he laughed, and said from them it was normal. He told me the name that was used, so I could confront the store manager... guess what the store's managers name was?

YEP!

Those buggers, just resealed the package, and shrink wrapped it again.

PHOOEY on them!
