LACIE DVD RW updated driver

I have just downloaded the driver LC8651FWLT25 to update my Lacie DVDRW
Now it does not work and my computer does not recognize this external DVD drive. It works perfectly before.... OS XP.
Anybody has an idea. I cannot reverse to the prvious driver Help Thanks

Note: Users with LaCie DVD LightScribe drives with “IDE-DVD DVDRW8651” drive signature must also update to the latest DVD drive firmware and latest bridge firmware.
Please download the following items:
DVDRW8651 DVD drive Firmware LT25
LaCie Device Updater 4.0.5 for Windows 2000 or XP

When you flashed the firmware did it give you an option to save old firmware ? If you try to flash again does the updater see the drive ? if it dose flash it again.

I don't have that drive so I can't experiment, usally a flash gone bad can at times (not always) be repaired on IDE drives...but I don't know about external drives :(

Thank you for your help. I spoke to Lacie today and they ask me to send the unit back for repair.
