OE6 and its DUPLICATED Incoming messages???

ok..this is for my dad.
He has Windows XP & Outlook Express 6 .....and for some reason.............
everytime he opens UP his email.....all INCOMING messages are duplicated....???????????TWICE?????????????....why why why????
I've searched all over the net.....microsoft sites...including forums...
(thought this would be a simple check or uncheck)
If anyone could help....it would be totally awesome as it is getting kinda frustrating...

In OE go to Tools > Options. On the general tab.

Have you got the following 2 options enabled?
"When starting ,go directly to my 'inbox' folder" & "send and receive messages at startup"

If they are both enabled, uncheck one of them and click apply. It doesn't matter which one you uncheck but i personally prefer to manually send and receive my mail so i always have "send and receive at startup" unchecked.

Restart OE.
