have an mp3 hardware players and my computer seems to not have the stereo speration like the portable does.

I remember reading an article somewhere about the best codec for mp3's and even 32 bit options for players

any ideas?

I am looking for software mp3 players or codecs for winamp that offer higher decoding quality.

here is the artical egghead

Of most relevance, alternative MPEG decoders are available which offer better quality/features than Nullsoft’s decoder, however the only I would recommend is Shibatch mpg123 (http://otachan.com/in_%21mpg123.html#DOWNLOAD) (Extract in_!mpg123.dll from the appropriate Bin subdirectory in the archive to the Winamp Plugin directory, if unsure extract the file from the Bin\normal subdirectory) as it is regularly updated. Some recommend the MAD decoder (http://sourceforge.net/projects/mad/), although that hasn’t been updated in some years and exists only as a Beta.

great that you could answer the question :p
flac is a heck of a great format to encode into, then ogg, and then lame mp3 (lame mp3, not mp3 is lame)
BTW, this is the last codec pack I ever needed

and as it says, yes....the best player is windows media classic (but it does not have playlist :()
I connected my PC to the home theather system (since I don't have a TV :p) and I am using coaxial cable for audio (digital) and there is a huge diffence between media player classic and WMP 10.
Winamp also is better than WMP, but I find it easier to sort music in WMP than in winamp
