View Full Version : No audio device.

I have suddenly lost all sounds, except system sounds, from my computer - a Dell Dimension 3100. On investigating further I have found the following error:-
SigmaTel High Definition Codec. Device Status: this device cannot start (CODE 10).
This may be the cause of the problem but what is puzzling is that sometimes the audio sounds are restored after I have used the computer and restarted!!!
Any help is appreciated.
Thank you in advance.

I would del all the audio devices in device manager and reboot. let windows reinstall the drivers. or go on the dell site and download the most recent drivers and install them.

Try these audio drivers from Dell (http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&releaseid=R114282&SystemID=DIM_PNT_P4_3100&os=WW1&osl=en&deviceid=8907&devlib=0&typecnt=1&vercnt=2&formatcnt=1&libid=3&fileid=150155)

or these ones from Intel (http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scripts-df-external/detail_desc.aspx?agr=n&productid=2068&dwnldid=8658&stross=88&osfullname=windows*%20xp%20media%20center%20edition&lang=eng).

Use at your own risk.
