Family member has just arrived in Kuwait. He has requested that his father purchase a notebook and ship it to him.

Trying to get the most for the money.

He is interested in downloading music, playing movies, and gaming.

Request recommendations on models and where to buy.

http://configure.us.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?c=us&cs=04&kc=6W300&l=en&oc=bndwe4a&s=bsd

Dell has a pretty slick machine for around $700.

InspironTM 6400
1GB Memory, 120GB Hard Drive & 128MB ATI Radeon Dedicated Graphics
Intel® Core™ Duo Proc T2300E (1.66GHz/667MHz/2 X 1MB L2 Cache)

That duo core is not the best one out but it's pretty good.

They have an AMD model for the same price:

InspironTM 1501
AMD® Turion 64x2 Dual-Core Processor & 1GB Memory

It has a radeon card, but it's integrated... which is not so good for gaming.

Walmart is rumored to have a $199.00 laptop coming on sale for Black Friday.

But who knows the specs or even if that is true.

Thanks to everyone. A lot of good choices. I had also been in direct contact with rik. He referred me to the Inspiron 1501 (http://configure.us.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?c=us&cs=04&kc=6W300&l=en&oc=bndwh4a&s=bsd) and the Inspiron 6400 (http://configure.us.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?c=us&cs=04&kc=6W300&l=en&oc=bndwe4a&s=bsd). He also suggested that we get the maintenance package that protects against all evils including dropping. That desert will be a tough environment. Haven't decided which one yet. We have narrowed it down to one of them. May come down to a last minute coin toss.

Feel free to voice your opinion
