avi to jpg software

I need a software to export still pictures from avi. This is for work, to export some of the videos from the security cameras, and they are about a frame per second.
I did a search and I did find several programs but could not make them work

I just tried it. It extracted individual frames and saved them as jpg or other image format. Plugins are avail to expand capability. This is a free program for non-commercial use. I am sure that they have a commercial package.
