Is it possible to network a PC with a Mac, for purposes of CD burning and editing non-OS-specific files?

And if so, how?

Sort of. One option is to boot the mac into Firewire mode (reboot while holding down the T key). The the mac can be attached to the PC (if it has a firewire port) as a firewire drive. Another option is put them on a hub and enable windows file sharing on both (connect via IP address). I'm sure there are a few other options as well but nothing is coming to mind.

Firewire is a port somewhat like USB ports.A HUB is basically a device used to connect mulitple PC's or devices together through use of Ethernet ports.I don't know much about them but i think they are somewhat similar to a router but not the same.

connecting PCs and Macs gets easy with each new updated O/System... what version is the MAC... i have OSX 10.3, and was able to give IP addresses to the mac and PC, but, the only way to browse the PC folders on via the MAC was to 'connect' to the PC, rather than browsing the Entire network ;) This was fixed in new versions tho.

You can also connect wirelessly using the PC as the host(XP does this best)and the MAC as the client using airport.Of course you need a WAP router attached to the PC's cable modem first.I couldn't get a laptop pc to connect when the MAC was the host however.There must be a way.:D

If it's a new intel based machine why not throw bootcamp on it and go to town with native windows file sharing?
