View Full Version : ATI Radeon PRO 128 AGP - Snowy graphic gthotmail November 26th, 2006, 03:19 AM HI guys, i have an ATI Radeon PRO 128 AGP and it was working fine all along until yesterday when i was play 3d game, the graphic became very snowy. Please Help. bhxtyrant November 26th, 2006, 03:23 AM What model Radeon and what game was it? gthotmail November 26th, 2006, 03:37 AM Wolfenstein - ET It happens on Madden 2007 as well. how do I find out what model that is? Big Booger November 26th, 2006, 03:48 AM Wolfenstein - ET It happens on Madden 2007 as well. how do I find out what model that is? He means: Radeon 9600 Radeon 9800 Radeon X800 Radeon X1950 But I think you already answered this: ATI Radeon PRO 128 AGP Is that the All-IN-Wonder card? Some possible fixes: Update ATI drivers to Omega Drivers – Update motherboard driver Tweak windows to bare requirements for processor enhancement (msconfig and service.msc dropped to bare minimun to run Win XP) Set AGP x4 Set Bios voltage to 1.7 Disable fastwrite Disable VPU via SmartGart Cleaned registry gthotmail November 26th, 2006, 03:51 AM yeah, forgot to mention it. it's ATI Radeon 9800 PRO 128 AGP rik November 26th, 2006, 04:10 AM Is it snowy at all times or only in 3d games? gthotmail November 26th, 2006, 04:13 AM yes only in 3d games. it works out fine when i am doing everything else, like surfing and watching movies. gthotmail November 26th, 2006, 04:22 AM Update ATI drivers to Omega Drivers – check Update motherboard driver - check Tweak windows to bare requirements for processor enhancement (msconfig and service.msc dropped to bare minimun to run Win XP) - I need more info on how to do this. Set AGP x4 - check Set Bios voltage to 1.7 Disable fastwrite - check Disable VPU via SmartGart - check Cleaned registry - check still the same. I just found out somthing, when I am running a 3d application, the desktop went snowy as well. FastGame November 26th, 2006, 05:21 AM The ram on the card is getting to hot or you have the card overclocked ? Check the fan and cooling. Big Booger November 26th, 2006, 06:44 AM :whs: gthotmail November 26th, 2006, 17:36 PM I don't know how to overclock, so that is out of equation. I did check the heat sink and it's burning hot, but the fan is running fine. How do i fix this? Big Booger November 28th, 2006, 00:06 AM One way would be to buy an adjustable fan that you can situation over the heat sinks to blow cool air over them. http://en.qschina.com/html/tradeinfo/html/2006/11/21/7977.html That device should allow you to position the fan in the proper place to allow maximization of cooling over the heat sinks. further I would use the ATI tool: http://www.techpowerup.com/atitool/ to check the temperature and check for artifacts. You can also check your core and memory clock speeds to make sure that the card has not been overclocked. cash_site November 28th, 2006, 00:32 AM Might have to merge the two threads of similar problems... but also, for some 3D games, it is driver or game related... i used to get massive corruptions with NFS UNdergroud, that was only fixed by newer ati drivers and the relevant game patch... but also, looking more at the overheating problems... overtime the paste between the chips and the heatsinks degrades... might be good to peel them off and put new stuff or new heatsinks too. lots of 3rd party go fast bits ;)
