A South Carolina boy, 12, was arrested Sunday morning after his mother called police to report that he had unwrapped a Christmas present without her permission.

What a crappy mother. My aunt once unwrapped some presents early and my grandmother took them all back to the store and my aunt went present-less that year. Needless to say the next year she didn't dare go near the gifts before the big day.
Why is it that the police are used as pseudo-parents these days? This sort of thing should have been handled at home.
