sdb file run problem

I need to copy a sdb file to C:\Windows\AppPatch and then run it so I can play Mortal Kombat Trilogy on Windows xp. According the the instructions I need to double click the file to run it, but when I double click it asks which application I want to run the file with. Any help?

umm, register it using Sdbinst.exe ...

1. Start > Run > cmd.
2. Type sdbinst c:\windows\apppatch\myapp.sdb, and then press ENTER. Make sure to replace the path and file name with the correct path and file name for your custom .sdb file.
After the database file is registered on a computer, the compatibility information is used when the corresponding program is started.
