Laptop locks up [FIXED]

I have a laptop.Don't laugh....its a Everex .It locks up constantly and I have to power down and restart it .Any ideas?
It only happens when on aol dialup.Broadband seems to work fine.
Any help would greatly be appreciated.:eek:

it sounds like information or programs on your computer is sending loads of info

I reloaded windows and deleted aol account.Took care of that. Thank you very much for the info.
AOL has turned into a real piece of work with all their adds that download when signing off.
