Embedded subtitles in .avi file

So I'm watching this drama and I need subtitles in order to understand. This .avi file contains embedded subtitles so I don't need to download it. The only problem is that there are like 2 sets of subtitles, both going off at the same time. The incorrect subs overlaps the correct one, and I don't know how to get rid of one of them. Please help me. :(

This might be part of the video player, i.e. Are you using Media Player or perhaps DivX Player? Check their options for subtitles.
