That time has come again when I'm going to build a new computer including a new case. This time I will be building a Gaming orientated machine which will eventually run Vista. I'm also going to go for a nice widescreen monitor.

Can you all help me out? What are you recommendations and should I go for an AMD chip or an Intel and is a Duo Quad intel chip really worth the extra?

Once I get some comments I'll be posting up my proposed machine for you to rip apart.

Thanks!

I think Intel Core 2 Duo is still on top at the moment.

Those type of parts look good so far. Like Conan said, the Core 2 Duo chips are really good atm, i think later this year AMD will release something closer, but why wait forever!

For gaming on Vista, the main concern will be Memory and Graphics... SLI is good, you'd want at least 2 x 8600 Nvidia, or 1 LARGE 8800 Ultra.. then for your motherboard, get at least 2GB of Highspeed RAM, with option to go to 4GB soon.

That will be a really kickin computer..

Now if you stay with XP, you could half all of these requirements, and still beat any computer out there! :p

As far as graphics cards go, I can see only this:

I saw this kick butt card at Best Buy for around 300.00 bucks last week...almost got sucked into buying it...lol...I am getting sick of chasing the upgrades just for the sake of gaming....getting too expensive and there are no games coming out anytime soon that will float my boat...:(. I have been considering a PS3 with the 20gig HD for gaming but there are not too many games out there that float my boat for that system either. If the sales don't change PS3 maybe going the way of the dreamcast...lol. I bought a Wii about three months ago....graphics are not high end but the controls really get you involved and the selection of games out and the ones to come make it the more attractive system to own.
