I was wandering if it would be possible to add a programmers section to TZ under Design Studio. (IE C++, C#, J#, Java, VB, and ect) Or should we use the software threads for these questions?

View Full Version : Programmer and software developers Linedawg August 7th, 2007, 15:36 PM I was wandering if it would be possible to add a programmers section to TZ under Design Studio. (IE C++, C#, J#, Java, VB, and ect) Or should we use the software threads for these questions? cash_site August 13th, 2007, 06:39 AM That's a great idea Linedawg. Just as long as people don't cut & paste information from experts exchange etc... Maybe windows or server scripting could be the angle to use to convince Rev that it's Technically orientated :) d000hg August 13th, 2007, 11:22 AM Why not just find a programming forum? Techzonez is a specialist site, there are specialist programming sites. TZ is never going to be as good as those sites for asking programmers, and those sites will never be as good as TZ for tech stuff. So instead, why don't people post the best development forums? I'll start - http://www.dbforums.com - forums for all major DBs, and general SQL stuff. cash_site August 14th, 2007, 01:11 AM That's true doohg, as even Google searches provide good links too. But i think using TZ as a first port of call, talking with people that we know, is a great idea too. In saying that, your the forum link idea is fantastic :D Visual C# General MSDN Forum (http://forums.microsoft.com/msdn/showforum.aspx?forumid=31&siteid=1) d000hg August 14th, 2007, 08:01 AM I don't know - if someone asks a tech-support type question on www.gamedev.net (game development site) I will be inclined to recommend they come here. If I saw someone asking programming questions here, I'd probably point them to a specialist forum of experts. You would rather get PC advice from recognised experts than people who just sound confident - that's why I post my technical questions here, I can trust the well-known TZ members. An official links section to development stuff would be better than posting in the forum - is this possible? http://www.silverlight.net - For anyone interested in developing with MS Silverlight (their competitor to Flex/Flash). Linedawg August 14th, 2007, 15:03 PM Then on that same note “web design (building your own web site? Need help with the CODING? This is the forum)” should not be here. It is just a different language of code but never the less it is code all the same. I’m sorry that you have strong objections to a programmers section on the TZ forums, all I did was ask a general question. The reason I asked this question in the first place is because people on TZ are always helpful unlike other forums. For example if you post a question on most programmers forums even if it is in the beginners forum most likely the person asking the question with get flamed by more experienced programmers. I have never seen that happen here at TZ and I feel more at ease with the environment here. The original intent of this posting was to see if it was possible for such a section to be added, NOT to debate the difference between technical question and development questions. Reverend August 14th, 2007, 19:39 PM Good points Linedawg. Our Web Design forum is more geared toward basic html and php coding. Unfortunately, to be honest here at TZ we don't have a large representation of programming experts and i think the point d000hg was trying to make is that it can be frustrating if you ask a programming question and have to hang around ages for a reply or don't get any reply at all. P.S. Thanks to both of you for your kind words about TZ. Linedawg August 14th, 2007, 21:47 PM Thank you for clearing the air on this topic. Never hurts to ask, I have to say the friendly environment here at TZ is second to none. I’m yet to find any other forums that can’t rivals the hospitality here. Someday I hope to find a programmer forums’ that mirrors TZ. :) blackhat August 15th, 2007, 03:36 AM Here! Here! DRB cash_site August 16th, 2007, 01:20 AM printf("TZ Rocks and is #1") :) petard August 16th, 2007, 01:42 AM <?php print "TZ Rocks and is #1"; ?> Linedawg August 16th, 2007, 12:49 PM printf("TZ Rocks and is #1") :) LOL Console.WriteLine("TZ rocks :)"); lol :D
