View Full Version : Stubborn printer drivers

We're out here anchored aboard a tug and barge and can't easily contact HP.

We have a computer upstairs that will not let us install our printer, saying that we have a newer version of the software already installed. It's not true. Lies. All lies.

This is where you guys come in. Where else can we find a place to remove the non-existant printer? We've already pulled the printers out of the control panel and the program files, and the captain even bravely took out the references in the registry. The computer still insists that the newer drivers are in there somewhere.

HP's site is not runing well tonight either so downloading drivers is tricky too. We figured to use the download version and do away with the CD version altogether. No luck.

Oh yeah. That's important. They have XP Home and the printer is a 7300 by HP.

you can delete the driver by going to printer and faxes then file>>>server properties. Then click on the drivers tab and del the printer name from there. this is where xp stores the printer drivers. let us know if that helps.

Went there and the list was clear except for the MS Office Imager thingy which we had left. CD drivers are still claiming that there is a newer version of the drivers in there. Hmmmm.

HP has compounded the issue by designating several products with the number 7300. They include the DIGITAL 7300 Server series, the HP Compaq dx7300 Slim Tower PC, the P Compaq nx7300 Notebook PC, the HP Officejet Pro L7300, the HP Officejet 7300 All-in-One series All-in-One and others. I am assuming that you are talking about the HP Officejet 7300 All-in-one printer.

You can download the latest driver here: LINK (http://h20180.www2.hp.com/apps/Lookup?h_lang=en&h_cc=us&cc=us&h_page=hpcom&lang=en&h_client=S-A-R163-1&h_pagetype=s-002&h_query=7300&submit.x=9&submit.y=8)

If your disk is not working properly, download the updated driver and try again.
