Just wanted to give a heads up on a recent email I received...

I got an email this morning from the IRS. Yes, I know that they are considerate and wanted to let me know that I overpaid my taxes and that they'd love to give me my money back.

The email addresses 'looked' fine on a visual glance. Reply to was noreply (at) irs.gov and the sending address was service (at) irs.gov.

Too bad the 'click here' link was:

Unfortunately, I don't think the IRS would ever be nice enough to return my money.

Just wanted to give a heads up and the new ways people are working to steal your identies and money that you worked hard for.

The text of the message was:

After the last annual calculations of your fiscal activity we have determined that you are eligible to receive a tax refund of $268.32. Please submit the tax refund request and allow us 6-9 days in order to process it.

A refund can be delayed for a variety of reasons. For example submitting invalid records or applying after the deadline.
