Hi
I just did a virus check with Kaspersky Labs, having done another with AVG beforehand.
KL said I had two viruses, but then it didn't remove them.
1. What's the point of just telling me and not removing them!
2. If there were viruses, why didn't AVG find them?
Thanks

I had to delete them manually.
Thank you.

When KAV gave you the virus warning didn't it give you options on what to do ? How do you have KAV set for on-demand scanning ? delete ? ignore ? denied access ? move to virus vault ?
Are you using an installed version of KAV or the online scanner ?

If you're using AVG Free or AVG Pro, KAV has better detection ;)
IMO its best to move virus to the virus vault first instead of deleting, in-case its a false positive.
veronica, how do you have BD set to handle detections ?

Lou, did you do the scan after visiting the Hacked Website?!! Please edit that thread to remove the link!
Now, on topic, Most Antivirus software released defintion/signature files quite frequently either hourly/daily or even as they are created. In some cases, when a brand new virus has been found by researchers, they create a signature to simply detect the presence (cos they don't know the full effect and associated issues).. then version 2 of the signature will have better instructions on how to actually remove/delete the virus... this may include Registry keys, injected DLLs, hidden trojans etc etc... Then perhaps, Version 3 of the signature will actually protect you from future infections ;)
Now, What were the two virus's called? Check the anti-virus logs, it might be something like W32.Zybog.A etc etc

The thread has been edited, but not by me sorry, as I did not see your message to do so until after it had already been done.

1. Quarantine 2. delete
Thats correct. BD should move the nasties to Quarantine where they can do no harm.
