View Full Version : outlook get out! lynchknot October 3rd, 2002, 02:36 AM Hello. I have outlook and outlook express. Is there a way to remove OE? **ok, I guess I got it in the add/HIDE windows components lynchknot October 3rd, 2002, 03:05 AM Well that did not work. I went to add-remove windows components and unchecked OE and while I was at it I unchecked Messenger and MSE. I re-booted and they STILL WORK!! Conan October 3rd, 2002, 03:40 AM I'm not sure it's possible to remove Outlook Express. Reverend October 3rd, 2002, 05:06 AM To remove OE,follow the instructions here (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q263837). They are for W2K,but should work on XP as well. lynchknot October 3rd, 2002, 05:40 AM Thanks Reverend, that seems like a big pain to do all that. Oh well................................ Reverend October 3rd, 2002, 11:22 AM Why do you want to remove OE? Do you want to use Outlook instead? If you don't want OE to start up when you check your mail.Go to Tools > Internet Options. On the programs tab select Outlook from the drop down menus and click Apply. Big Booger October 3rd, 2002, 12:20 PM I was screwing around today learning out to do batch files.. Thought about making a batch file to remove Outlook Express, but I hit a stump. I don't know the commands for removing registry entries or executing programs... As soon as I figure it out, I might post it up. I did figure out though how to format a floppy disk using a batch file. Very convenient. No more click on start, click on My computer, right click A:/ Drive, click format... Now I just double click the batch file and it works like a two peckered python. BB lynchknot October 3rd, 2002, 15:04 PM Sometimes, out-of-the-blue, some app will call up OE instead of outlook. This is just annoying to me. Reverend October 3rd, 2002, 17:49 PM Originally posted by lynchknot Sometimes, out-of-the-blue, some app will call up OE instead of outlook. This is just annoying to me. If you make Outlook the default program by following the instructions in my previous post,it will open instead of OE. lynchknot October 3rd, 2002, 21:05 PM I had set my programs before I started this thread. I set my mail program to Outlook. The reason I started this thread is because sometimes, while running another app or browser, it will call up OE by mistake, I guess. It doesn't happen all the time - but a few times is annoying enough.
