i have this one (http://www.jandr.com/JRProductPage.process?RestartFlow=t&Merchant_Id=1&Section_Id=1419&pcount=&Product_Id=2343546&Sort=Mfr_Name,Current_Price,Product_Name)

56", HDTV ready, 16:9 aspect ratio (so if you watch a lot of DVDs like i do, it's fantastic)

i've had this for a little while now and i've been loving every minute of it. it's a bit pricey, but if you have the cash to spend this is the best one IMO

Go for a plasma display. I like Samsung and Sony...
perhaps Philips Magnovox as well
MAke sure you get all the latest connections, S-video, RCA, COax etc...
GET HDTV, and get an extended warranty!

Hey FG

I have the RCA 50" Home Theatre Premiere. Twin tuners for PIP so you do not need a VCR for the PIP. S viedo, Sur. Sound and many other connectors on the back that all do something really neat. It has Guide Plus gold (on screen TV guide). It is not HDTV ready but I got this set over a year ago and since HDTV will not be inforced for another 5 or 6 years in the states I figure that being the tech hound that I am a new set will be in order by that time.:D The RCA brand also has a very nice S. Sound amp system (more money) that I have and enjoy. It is the 100 watt system and this one has 2 fiber inputs on it. The smaller 50 watt unit only has 1 fiber input and that is just not gooooooood. As you amass your goodie list fot the new system check to see that the big screen will work with all the out side goodies that you want, i.e. SS system,DVD,Xbox (I have PS2 on mine),computer,VCR and so on. I had to spend extra bucks for my set up because I did not do this and now have SS in the master bed room because I baught to small. Live and learn! If you want more info on the system fell free to ask or e-mail....... Good luck...

There used to be a warning regarding putting Games consoles on LCD based TV screens, something to do with screen burn much like monitors.

Sony used to include a warning with their LCD Projector TV's 36" & 50"

Plasma screen might not suffer from this though

Thanks

Actually Netrg.net I read something along those lines regarding Lcd screen TV's and gaming consoles. FastGame you should checkout the prices on some Plasma screens anyway. Give it a year or two and you will be wishing you had proberley brought one, yeh there expensive...but god dam the quality:)

How much is a second hand car were you are Conan????, is that a decent car???

Plus if you are going for plasma, you need to make sure you get a quiet one.

Because they generate a fair bit of heat they have fans built into them that obviously then make noise which could be heard in quieter environments

Some manufacturers will have sorted this better than others, so in this case cheap may actually be very annoying

Thanks

Richard

8000.00 brand new gents!

I know I know ebay right, still brand new 8000 grand.. This would have cost you around 25000.00 1 year ago!

Believe me gents, there is a restaurant down the way here called gusto, they have a 54 inch plasma screen, nearly an inch thick, hangs on the wall. We go down, get a bit to eat, and watch the J-League soccer games!
Very nice,

I think we're lagging a bit behind the Rest of the World here in the UK.
Over here a 32" widescreen is considered a luxury. :(

I've had great experience with Sony. I have a big screen TV here. (had it for less than a yr)

my parents had thier big screen tv for 3-4yrs+ and it's a sony...
and still kicking ;-)

I wouldn't get a plasma tv now... wait for more advances in its development..

Oh I'm well on my way to manhood (at 50 may be past it) , X-Box , PS2 , Saturn , Dish Net Sat.5.1 dolby , Top-o-the line Yamaha 6.1 amp , Infinity towers & MTX towers , AR 200watt sub...it's just running on a 36" Toshiba at the moment , would like something bigger.

I was in Best Buy (unless you preorder..lol) and that price you give is right on the money !

Thank's, I still have time.
